well built!!!

I have owned other like this, but none work as well. It slides effortlessly, it stays where you leave it, it appears well built… overbuilt! I adore it. If I had any complaint, it could be that it doesn’t come out very far enough. If you have a cabinet with a drawer above it (as most kitched cabinets do), when you pull it out to take out the barrel (ie to change the bag) it does not lift out without some strange angles to clear the drawer face above. This occasionally outcomes in some garbage on the floor if the barrel is too full. another half and inch of range and it could be fine. overall a pleasure.

Pretty but it’s got issues!!!

Overall, I’m happy with this Trash Can. It’s beautiful (which is something to say about a trash can) and it keeps the smells in and the ants out, but it has two issues. Although the inner can is removable so you are able to put the bag on the can and then within the casing, there isn’t any band to maintain the bag in location so when you put the can within the casing, the bag tends to get pushed off the can. The only other problem is the small piece which can be utilized to hold the leading open is a tiny piece of metal which sits on the end of a rod – no screw or cap to hold it in place – which means it routinely falls off. For this much money, I would have liked a bit much more functionality.

easy solution to holding the inner bag!!!

i used to have the exact same problem of holding the bag on the inner can: i couldn’t find a rubber band big enough.

then, i had a moment of trash-can inspiration: i just tied a string to every end of a sturdy rubber band and adjusted the length so i could stretch the string / rubber band loop around the leading of the inner can. i tied another small piece of string from the loop to the edge of the inner can’s handle so it’d remain nearby whilst emptying it.

this Trash Can works extremely well for me.

Not Great; But Good Value!

I was a little disappointed in this trash can that we purchased to complement our bath set: Croscill Cheshire 4-Piece Bath Set, Bronze. First, it is not rigid and easily changes shape. Second, it’s clearly plastic – “Metalla” although spelled like “Metal” is about the furthest thing from it. Third, the photo is a small deceiving as the can is bronze with dark highlights, whilst our other fixtures and accessories are the opposite (so it’s much more gold than dark).

Nevertheless, it does have some redeeming qualities that saved it from 2-stars or fewer. The trash can we wanted was over $40 on Amazon, so for the exact same price I can get three of these and not feel bad about throwing them out as they are bio-degradable. Also, this one is twice the size so I can use real trash bags and don’t need to empty it as frequently. It could get four stars if they produced the material or structure more rigid – it may still not look like metal, but at least it would feel solid.

BUY THIS ALREADY!!!

I previously had a pretty but useless round trash bin having a circular lid. This trash can is awesome. It’s easy to assemble, and the pedal works very nicely. I also like how the lid moves back down slowly and gracefully – it is a nice touch so you don’t need to hear the can slamming all the time. I put a large Hefty bag inside, and this works well. Smells are fairly well contained, and if you can smell something, that indicates it’s really been way too long. Foot pedal appears to be fairly durable, and feels substantial whenever you step on it.

I don’t have children/pets so I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the lock.

Minor complaint: Cannot truly location is flush against the wall since the hinge sticks out. This isn’t a massive problem but you notice it. You have to place the can a couple of inches away from the wall. I still give it five stars simply because I do not think this affects the functionality, or the joy it has brought into my disheveled life. Highly recommend this Trash Can. Extremely nice to look at and easy to maintain clean.

Nice & Stylish But I Wish It Was Larger!!!

My old trash can was a Rubbermaid 13 gallon step-on & they do not make it anymore, I have had it for 16yrs & the step-on pad broke. So I turned to Amazon for a new one. I found this & the reviews where good so I thought that losing 2 1/2 gallons of space would not make that much of a difference well I was WRONG it is a HUGE difference. Don’t get me wrong this is a very nice trash can. I love how the lid goes down slow & you can lock it, I have a 200lb English Mastiff who has never gotten in the trash because I would always put the trash can in my laundry room whenever I went out so she would not have the chance to get in it, so no more lugging trash down to the basement . I use Glad Force Flex trash bags & they fit perfectly. Shipping was fast I ordered on Friday & received it the next Wednesday & that was using the Free Super Saver shipping so it saved me $10.95 in shipping fee(if I had to pay that in shipping I would have found it at a local store). It is just a shame Simplehuman does not make this can in a larger size. That is the reason for 4 stars.

I went back via and read all the reviews on Amazon. I e-mailed the business(itouchless) and known as the 800 number I discovered on 1 review and left a message (it was on a Saturday when I called).
