I experienced numerous of the same problems with my itouchless trash can about a month following buy. It started acting erraticly 1 day so I thought the batteries might require changing. I did that and every thing seemed fine. I shut it off that night and when I turned it back on within the morning it did not work right. It would open usually, but would not close unless I pushed the close button. Occasionally it would stay closed, but other times it would open at random or open correct back up as soon as I closed it. I went back via and read all the reviews on Amazon. I e-mailed the business(itouchless) and known as the 800 number I discovered on 1 review and left a message (it was on a Saturday when I called). The funny factor was, prior to I got a call back, the trash can started to work again. All I did was push down on the cover one time after I closed it with the close button. I don’t know if that’s what did it, but I haven’t had a issue since. I was a little nervous that customer service at itouchless was not going to be helpful because many of the reviews stated as such. It has a “ring”,which tightly and neatly holds down any kind of bag and hides the overlap very cleverly so it doesnn’t get soiled( BE CAREFUL NOT TO FORGET TO Remove THE RING WHEN CLOSING THE FULL BAG, OR OUT WITH THE BAG TO THE STREET It’ll GO!!!).
